Let me pull back the curtain and show you what a difference treating your body with love makes.

The photo on the left was back in 2020, at the start of the pandemic as I was being diagnosed with Grave’s Disease.  I was hardly ever exercising, I was drinking alcohol  pretty much every day and considered a spinach frozen pizza “a healthy option”. I remember this day so vividly because it was my second visit to the hospital with rapid atrial fibrillation (heart palpitations) and I felt alone, scared and that I’d never feel good ever again.

The second photo is April 2022.  I’ve given up drinking (because that’s what’s best for me), I eat a really balanced diet (but still have an occasional spinach pizza, and chocolate most days, I’m human after all), and I exercise 3 or more times a week.

I’ve shown you photos of my face because it’s not about how my body looks, but more about how I feel and you can see in the second photo I have bright eyes and skin, strong healthy hair and I’m just happier.  You can tell.

I’m telling you all of this and realise we might never have met before. So let me back up and introduce myself. My name is Emma and I’m a personal trainer, health coach, yoga teacher and Reiki master.

Back in my late 30’s, all I ever wanted was to lose the last 5 kilos.  No matter how much I lost, I still wanted more.  And that’s where my love/hate relationship with exercise began.  I loved going to the gym at 5.30am (that’s what I told myself anyway) and it felt good to get strong and fit.  But then I’d get injured, or I’d be away a lot for work, and I’d skip a few sessions.  I’d start to hate my body again, so I’d get myself back to the gym as soon as possible.  This pattern even inspired me to become a personal trainer.   

But here’s the thing – it just wasn’t sustainable.

I was also battling endometriosis and at age 43 I had a full hysterectomy and became post-menopausal overnight.  A post-menopausal body is not the same as a late 30’s body, believe me!

Over time I gained weight, my joints became sore, and I just didn’t have the same energy levels as I once had.  Besides teaching classes and walking my dog, exercise for my own health & fitness completely disappeared.  FOR FOUR YEARS!!  I’d start exercise plans with optimism only to stop the next week because I just didn’t feel like I could do it… I felt tired, sore, old, and heavy.

While I was struggling with my physical self-care, my mental & spiritual self-care were on fire!  I was meditating regularly, journaling, using oracle cards for inspiration and following the phases of the moon.  These practices had boosted my confidence and my mental health and helped me love my body in a way I had never done before.  I finally appreciated it for all that it does for me rather than for how it looked.  But I was still frustrated with myself for not exercising because as a fitness professional I know how important exercise is for reducing the likelihood of chronic illnesses like Type II diabetes and staving off osteoporosis.

Then I had an epiphany… what if I combined my personal training & yoga teacher knowledge with my love of all things spiritual self-care?  I started to exercise in line with the phases of the moon – gentle exercise during the new & waning phases and stronger routines during the waxing & full phases.  It felt natural and best of all, do-able!

And so I created this…

I created the Self Love Health Club because too many women are making themselves feel bad by flogging themselves to lose the last X kilos believing that that will make them happy.  It’s not enjoyable, it’s not sustainable, it’s based in fear and hate of themselves rather than love.

Got a question before joining?

  • You can use the moon phases and online library of exercise videos to do exercise when it suits you. I will still help to keep you accountable as will the 2 group coaching sessions every month and Power Hours every week. Plus I’ve just added a special bonus… All of the live workouts are posted in the online portal so you can download them and do them at a time that suits.

  • Not at all fit. Even if you’d never exercised, you will be able to keep up with this program. Start where you are and build from there.

  • No, there are no eating plans in this program simply because we all have different needs when it comes to food. However, I will share what I am eating every week and what I’m preparing for the Power Hour so that you can get inspired to create your own menu (or just copy mine).

  • You don’t have to do anything! However, the spiritual stuff is how you make this program your own. You’d be surprised how tapping into your own wants and desires every month takes you closer to your dreams. I say give it a go, and if you really don’t like it, you can stop.

  • Yes. 100% balance 100% of the time is not possible. So just do what you can. Some self-care is always better than no self-care. Over time as you build your fitness and your self-esteem, you will find it easier to create boundaries with others which will give you more time to do more in this program (or other things if you’d prefer!)

  • If you have a smartphone you can do it. The free online app that comes with this program is a bit like our own private Facebook so if you can use FB, you can use this program.

  • Yes you can leave any time. You can cancel your subscription using the app. If you’ve paid for the month you will continue to get access until the end of the month. If you’ve paid for the year you will continue to get access until the end of the 12 months you signed up for. There are no partial refunds I’m afraid.

  • I understand. You could join an in person group class and use the Self Love Health Club as your back up plan for exercise and just do all the other parts like the New Moon & Full Moon sessions and Power Hours. Please also know that after a while, online exercise will feel normal too

  • Can I be honest and say that I don’t really enjoy waking up early for workouts either. But I have NEVER regretted it once I’ve started. You don’t need to get dressed up or brush your hair because you’ll be at home so I say, roll out of bed and workout in your PJs. Over time it will get easier to get up and you’ll start to feel amazing. But it might never be your absolute favourite thing and that’s okay.
