Hey there, I’m Emma
I’m your resident personal trainer, yoga teacher & anti-diet health coach and I’m thrilled that you are here! I love helping women ditch the diets (because they don’t work) and help them build healthy behaviours into their busy lives so they feel energised, strong and empowered.
I’ve been in this industry for since 2012 and I’ve fought my own battle against body shame with constant dieting and brutal exercise, and the only way my clients and I have improved our relationships to our bodies is through kindness & acceptance.
After hitting menopause early at 43 after surgery and realising through trying all sorts of restrictive diet and punishing exercise programs that my body was NEVER going to be the same, I finally did the research and found out that diets don’t work in the long term and that even though I was heavier than I used to be, I could still be healthy.
Over the last few years, I have focused on respecting my body by eating intuitively, moving gently, paying attention to my mental health, and taking care of my appearance.
I don’t drink (because that’s right for me), I eat carbs when I like (not as “reward” for getting through the day), I have more confidence than I have ever had before, and I no longer worry about my weight because it has stabilised.
People tell me all that time that I am glowing, and I have to say, that never happened when I was always trying to lose weight. Back then I was so stressed and undernourished that I hardly ever looked truly healthy.
And here’s the thing; all that care for others at the expense of yourself will one day lead to burn out, chronic illness or mental health issues. I know because it happened to me.
After years of having my self-esteem battered by the corporate boys club while dealing with Stage 4 endometriosis, I ditched my six-figure corporate career in Sydney and moved to Albany, Western Australia so I could be close to my mum and brothers. I was (literally) sick of doing it all on my own, I needed support.
My friends said I was brave but I knew that I couldn’t keep going as I was. Something had to change.
I started studying everything I could about health & wellness and over the years I have qualified as a health coach, yoga coach & teacher, personal trainer and Reiki Master. I’ve also created my own coaching program, The Body Love Academy, which has been certified by the International Institute for Complementary Therapists.
